Hanneliese Steichele (1942) studied Catholic Theology and Latin in Munich and Paris from 1962 to 1967. After a Ph.D. in Theology, she was appointed Professor of New and Old Testament at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Mainz (1977-2008), where she also acted as Rector from 1992 to 1997. Honorary Chairwoman of the Catholic Bible Society of the Diocese of Mainz from 1986 to 2000, she was President of the Catholic German Women’s Association (1999-2003). For many years, Dr. Steichele also took part in the radio program “Bible in Conversation”. She retired in 2008.
