John Witte Jr. è Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Law, McDonald Distinguished Professor e Direttore del Center for the Study of Law and Religion presso la Emory Law School (Atlanta, GA). Storico del diritto di fama mondiale, è stato a capo di numerosi importanti progetti internazionali in materia di democrazia, diritti umani, libertà religiosa, matrimonio e relazioni famigliari. Ha tenuto lezioni in tutto il mondo e pubblicato ventotto libri, molti dei quali tradotti in più lingue, tra cui Religion and Human Rights: An Introduction (Oxford, 2012); Christianity and Human Rights: An Introduction (Cambridge, 2010) e The Sins of the Fathers: The Law and Theology of Illegitimacy Reconsidered (Cambridge, 2009).
